Most of you know that Lisbon is a city with plenty of architectural heritage of immense cultural value.

All those who have wandered through Lisbon, noticed the huge statues of Gods and Goddesses in the facades of the buildings but how many of us have stoped to question what predictions present? Who were the authors?

Most know that in 1755 took place in Lisbon and the south of Portugal, Spain and Marocco, this huge earthquake devastated almost completely throughout downtown Lisbon.

Having a downtown Lisbon been completely devastated, would be left open, an immense work of rebuilding which Masonry by the Marquis of Pombal, would work to re-build the rubble, using for this a whole concept of Real Art, Occult Symbolism, Sacred Geometry and Alchemy.

Unraveling the Lisbon Masonic

Sebastião José Carvalho e Melo, who popularly became known by the Marquis of Pombal rebuilt Lisbon post earthquake the proportion of a large temple and, according to some authors and experts in the field, in the light of Sacred Geometry, with the calculation based on the Number of gold – 0.618033989 … – ie, based on this ratio was perfect, the whole downtown was rebuilt.

Thus, compared to the current Lisbon to Lisbon before the 1755 earthquake, and with the point of measurement axis that divides the current Rua Augusta, it was rotated 13 degrees to the North.

Under this assumption, we are taken to comply with the high value-hermetic philosophy that guided the work of those who deigned to erect such work.

Deciphering the name “Lisbon”

LISBON: Deciphering Lisbon – (Lis + Good) – we have the answer to the sacredness expressed in its name. Flor de Liz, Mystery and Initiation symbol represents the Sun Triple or Trinity, translated in figure papal and imperial Melki-Tzedek.

The term “good” in addition to designating the “water” also designates the column or Solomonic Boz Boaz pillar of God located at the foot of the Tagus, the Pier, so place representative of the city. Indicating Beauty Universal, it is the strength and rigor with which the name ends in Lisbon and in this column, the city of Lisbon, the Tagus feet ends.

Seven Hills

SEVEN HILLS: Lisbon, like all cities of seven hills, Jerusalem and Rome for example, is considered by Tradition Theurgic one sacred metropolis.

Terreiro do Paço, Square Trade

Terreiro do Paço, Square Trade – THE ENTRANCE OF THE “GREAT TEMPLE”
Praça do Comércio ou Terreiro do Paço(The Commerce Square or the Palace Square) was built in the sacred Book of Thoth, better known as Tarot.

Cais das Colunas, Pier Columns

For those who came by sea, entering the “Great Temple” was made by Pier Columns. These columns so dear to Masonic symbology and here may represent the columns doTemplo of Solomon, Columns B and J, Boaz and Jachin respectively.

The two columns summarize the two polarities of rigor and mercy, strength and beauty. Column B is the strength and stability J column.

The column is one of the fundamental elements of architecture, ensuring the soundness and stability of the building support. There are several references that consider Columns B and J as a representation of the antediluvian columns built to save the essential aspects of science and knowledge, all symbolically Square is “Between Columns”.

Turrets of Ministries

Anyone in Pier Columns and back to the Tagus River to the east and west points turrets ministries, also symbolizing Columns B and J. Incidentally, detail that can be observed by aerial photo or plant and where to recognize the design of these letters.

Augusta Street Arch

Leaving behind all square ahead the Arco da Rua Augusta, this arch supported by two massive columns.

This work of art has a profound esoteric meaning. All cities grounded on seven hills have your Arc de Triomphe or the Salvation. The Lisbon is sacred and also the synthesis of other aesthetic throughout Europe and the Middle East. Designates the Threshold of the Mysteries, the passage from darkness to light, from death to Immortality, which grants the Wisdom of the Ages.

#17, THE “STAR OF MAGI”

Portugal, the country under the biorhythms of the value 17, the Arcanum of the “Star of the Magi”, in astrological terms is guided by Pisces and Jupiter, while Lisbon is ruled by Libra and Venus, which in turn has the eagle its ultimate symbol. This is exactly eagle found at the intersection of Street S. Nicholas and Rua Augusta, in the corner, and configuring Birth to Augusta Light, indicator of Human Perfection.

In grid of Baixa seven longitudinal streets intersect with seven cross streets, intersected by three squares: so is, again, 17, the number of “Star of the Magi.” And the street names refer to the alchemical terminology – Rua do Ouro(Gold Street), Rua da Prata(Silver Street) – which has its outcome in architecture Square Arches.

THE ARCHES AND TERREIRO ARCANA TAROT

Past that were input columns in the temple, we find ourselves in the center of the Palace Square. Around us we have a fabulous architectural ensemble of buildings, these buildings adorned with arcades all around. As this site was nothing left to chance, and because the reconstruction of the city was made by names linked to Freemasonry (Karl Mardel, Manuel da Maia and Eugenio dos Santos), everything has a purpose and creased, despite some secret stealth. Counting all arcs, we notice that total 78 arches. Could be more or less, but there are exactly seventy-eight arches.

Detailing the count now, the arches are distributed as follows:
Left of Augusta Street – 11 arches, the right to Rua Augusta – 11 arches, which totals 22.

Flanking the square have 28 arches on each side, totaling 56.
Given these two sets of numbers, 22 + 56, we follow this reasoning:

The Book of Thoth (Tarot) is, as we know, consists of 78 cards or blades, originally of fine gold or silver and crisopeico argiopeica, belonging to the first 22 slides Arcana, or Esoteric, and the remaining 56 called the Arcana smaller, or exoteric. There is an intention in the very arches of the Palace Square surpassing undoubtedly its structural function of its architecture. The buildings contain 28 side arches each, whose sum is 56 arches, or Minor Arcana.

The main façade, the right and left of the Arco da Rua Augusta, we, on the other hand, 22 bows, 11 in each direction. Now 22 arcs correspond exactly to the number of the 22 Major Arcana or initiatic.
If we apply the arcane each arc corresponding to it, we obtain the interpretative key of a full cycle of manifestation: for the 56 arches, the manifestation profane, and as for the 22 arches front, between Gold Street and Silver, the realization occult .

In the center of the square, the statue of King D.José, the image of Saint George

In a small interpretive exercise can discover beyond the superficial symbolism and explore the true meaning of the sculpture that adorns the beautiful downtown Pombal square. After all, who wants idealized or who carved, had in his character art and knowledge of initiatory esoteric brotherhoods, were they (Neo) or Templar Masonic.
The knight statue, wielding the scepter and imperial agent covering themselves with a cloak, similar to that used the Knights of the Order of Christ and whose white mounted crushing your feet the vile snakes, timeless symbols and demonic forces below, suggests that the very image of S. Jorge, the Silent Watcher of Homeland Lusitana. It is curious to note that D. José costumes the same way that the Roman emperors. All these lead us to the sacredness your carrier. Equally curious is the observation that the rider has an abundant hair in loose curls, giving an aspect of a character from Northern Europe.

If you go back to the Siege of Lisbon, by the troops of King Afonso Henriques, it is known that some Templars were involved in making the precious help of the city. These knights were mostly coming from England. On the battlefield, these English knights, shouting the name of their patron saint – Saint George – with infantry D. Afonso Henriques was following these chants during the assaults on the city. Adopting this cry and adapting it to the Portuguese language, quickly became the Ghost, whom all attributed the liberation of the city of Lisbon, the infidels and such snakes. Saint George or S. Jorge, savior of the city, was something that happened naturally. Also interesting the fact that the majority of the representations S. Jorge, it is common to see a holy knight with long blond hair falling in ringlets over her shoulders, mounted in white to exterminate any reptile.

Masonic Perspective of Downtown Streets

Streets: Gold, Silver and Augusta.

GOLD: The Pure Gold, the end goal was represented by the alchemical glyph (1) When we think of the sun in gold, we also believe in the light, we think of days in force by association leads to male element – Man. (1) – Glyph: circle with a dot in the middle

SILVER: In Alchemy, the Moon symbolizes another important metal, silver. The silver was feminine and moon as it is brittle and corrode easily be placed in contact with any acid or aggressive agent (male). Another process that was associated with the moon symbol is the “Unio Mystica” process where the silver is added to the alchemical work objectively gold (sun). This union is what we call in astrology to fill the needs of the Moon by the Sun
So, think about Silver Moon is thinking of, darkness, black, night, darkness, passivity, emotionality in Women.

AUGUSTA: What is something august? Augusto means to be supreme, be up top, the most important.

A small historical passage can connect these three elements of place names in the low pombalina:

According to the canons of diplomatic Pombal back to Lisbon in December 21, 1743. On September 14, 1744 receive shipping instructions to the court of Vienna where he arrives on July 17, 1745. It is in this city that is initiated by Freemason influence Emperor Franz I, one of the greatest Freemasons of Germany.
So what is an emperor but a Supreme Augusta and persona. As it was Mason, the Marquis of Pombal, and yielding obedience to the emperor figure for whom harbored high esteem and respect, decided to pay homage to the Rua Augusta, symbolically, his imposing figure, flanked by such important masonic symbols, the Sun and Moon.

The Caduceus of Mercury

However, if we want to drop a bit of Masonic symbology and look at this whole complex set of symbols, we can observe the following:
Of the Palace Square depart the main arteries: Rua Augusta, Rua do Ouro and Rua da Prata. When we say we apply the term itself arteries, the arteries as it is what it is. Streets of Gold and Silver, with Rua Augusta, represent the caduceus of Hermes or Thoth, and as is well known, the caduceus is composed of a central column around which rise two snakes, one gold and one silver, respectively one solar and one lunar. The two snakes also mean the two fundamental energies of the universe, opposites that include, attract and repel.
These snakes represent and are the arteries through which vital energy flows serpentine, broken down into its two complementary aspects: the moon that is cold and passive, while the sun is hot and active.
In traditional symbolic gold expresses the sun and silver moon becomes clear that the Rua do Ouro corresponds to solar aspect of the caduceus, Rua da Prata to the moon and eventually to Augusta Street symbolizes the baton central channel fusion and synthesis of these two polar forces.
Through the caduceus pombalino have access to seven hills or seals Good Liz S. Vicente in Alfama, St. Andrew º in Grace, S. Jorge, in the Moorish quarter; S. Roque, in Bairro Alto, St. Catarina, from Camões; Santana, on the Largo da Announced and Chagas in Carmel. Interpret these seven patron is interpreting the cryptic puzzle Lisbon …

There will be no wonder that the whole basis of the Governing Power remains since then this site .. here gather all Portugese Government Ministries.
