It was created in 1911 and re-inaugurated, in new installations, in 1994.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525;\">The museum covers the period between 1850 and 1950, with works by the foremost Portuguese artists of the period, as well as some foreigners. It holds the best collection of Portuguese painting and sculpture from the Romanticism, Naturalism and Modern periods.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525;\">Among the artists represented are\u00a0Ant\u00f3nio Silva Porto,\u00a0Ant\u00f3nio Carneiro,\u00a0Ant\u00f3nio Soares dos Reis,\u00a0Miguel \u00c2ngelo Lupi,\u00a0Columbano Bordalo Pinheiro,\u00a0Amadeo de Souza Cardoso,\u00a0Abel Manta,\u00a0D\u00f3rdio Gomes,\u00a0Jos\u00e9 de Almada Negreiros,\u00a0Nadir Afonso,\u00a0M\u00e1rio Eloy,\u00a0Francisco Augusto Metrass,\u00a0Auguste Rodin, and many others. The museum also hosts temporary exhibitions.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525;\">Since 1911, the Chiado Museum has occupied part of the old\u00a0<b>Convent of S\u00e3o Francisco<\/b>\u00a0(Saint Francis) in Lisbon, a building of mediaeval origin.
